Expedition Charities
I will use this great expedition as an opportunity to raise money for three causes that are very dear to me, Motor neurone Disease particularly so, as it sadly took my father’s life nearly three years ago. Any donation you make will go directly to the good work these organisations do and will be greatly appreciated.
Donations
You can make donations to the official Expedition charities at the following links:

Last year many generously supported my efforts to the North Pole by buying tickets to the Around the World Raffle in aid of my chosen charities. The raffle did not prove to be as successful a tool as we had hoped and therefore I have chosen to return to a more traditional on-line giving.
On the eve of my departure I am unable to petition the raffle organisers to refund the tickets. I will be able to do this once I return in May. It is my hope that at that point we will be able to convert your donation directly to the charities with your permission or to refund you your money. I am sorry that I will not be able to deal with this issue before May when I am back from the North Pole, but rest assured that it will be dealt with as a priority on my return.
I know that this may disappoint some of you who had hoped to win the fabulous prize, and I apologise, but thank you on on my behalf and that of the charities who all value your continued support.
Data protection means that I was unable to email everyone who bought tickets directly to let them know of this change. If you are one of those please email me through the site and I will keep you up to date personally.
The Charities
Save the Rhino works to conserve viable populations of critically endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia. They recognise that the future of wildlife is inextricably linked to the communities that share its habitat. By funding field projects and through education, their goal is to deliver material, long-lasting and widespread benefits to rhinos and other endangered species, ecosystems and to the people living in these areas.(Registered charity number 1035072)
The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association is the only national organisation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to the support of people with MND and those who care for them. (Registered charity number 294354)
The Wilderness Leadership School has been taking young people and decision makers on trail in South Africa for 50 years. Founded by Dr Ian Player it aims to aid growth tolerance and understanding through experiential learning and the wilderness experience.
